Manny hits a shot at Oswalt

The Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Roy Oswlat was hit near the ear with line drive off the bat of Manny Ramirez and had X-rays.

Oswalt stayed conscious but he had a big bruise on his neck. The team says he wasn't dizzy when he left the stadium for the X-rays on Wednesday in the Phillies game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Oswalt fell straight to the ground when he was hit with the ball in the neck. He stayed on the ground until a trainer reached the mound and examined him. He would later walk to the clubhouse by himself.

Oswalt allowed only four runs and three his against the Rays on Wednesday. Before Oswalt was taking out of the game Evan Longoria homered and Manny shot an RBI double to the outfield track.

  1. This was scary to see, and from what I've heard and read, Roy is okay though I'm sure his head must hurt like heck. Charlie Manual believes he'll be ready to make his next scheduled start and I'm hoping this is the last of the Phillies injuries for 2011.

  2. Oh, I hope you're right, Anne. It's been one thing after another this pre-season. Good grief!
