The Phillies Steal Another

The Philadelphia Phillies came back in the seventh inning to take the lead by a score of five to four.

In the second inning the Nationals took the lead when M. Morse hit a solo shot to center field off of Roy Halladay. Then L. Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly and J. Hairston Jr. scored from third in the second inning.

Two innings later in the fourth inning the Phillies had four straight hits. The first two hits were home runs. First Ryan Howard blasted a home run to center field, then Raul Ibanez hit a home run to left field. Then Carlos Ruiz hit a double and then he was hit home one batter later by Domonic Brown, all this damage was done off of L. Hernandez.

Then the Nationals tied it with a home run to right field by Danny Espinosa in the fifth inning. One inning later Lance Nix homered to right field.

In the seventh inning Ryan Howard hit a single to center field and Placido Polanco Chase Utley went to third. The next Batter was Raul Ibanez who hit a sac fly and Utley scored.

The score stayed the same and the Phillies take that one five to four.

Roy Halladay gets the win and he improves to 7-3.The loss goes to Sean Burnett he is now 0-2. Antonio Bastardo gets his third hold and Jose Contreras gets his second hold. Ryan Madson gets his twelfth save.

  1. There is just no "quit" in this team...no matter what the situation, they always believe they can pull out a victory!
