The Niners Never Give in

The Sanfancisco 49ers played the New Orleans Saints for the second round of the play-offs.

The niners outscored the Saints 14-0 in the first quarter, and gave out completely in the second. The Niners were outscored 14-3 by the Saints in the second. Making a 17-14 game San Francisco in the lead. The third quarter had little scoring only 3 points total in the whole quarter, it was a field goal by David Akers who had three field goals in the game.

The fourth quarter more back and fourth than I've seen in any game all season long. And it all started with a 48 yard field goal by the Saints kicker, John Kasay. Then the Niners didn't answer with anything punted, then after one set of downs the Saints punt.Next drive, the Niners had a 42 yard run with Frank Gore. A few plays later the Niners kicked a field goal to make the score 23-17 Niners lead. Next Drive, Brees throws a 44 yard pass to Darren Sproles for a touchdown. In the middle of the next drive Vernon Davis catches a 37 yard pass from Alex Smith which later set up an Alex Smith 28 yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown making the score 36-32 Niners in the lead which left two minutes 11 seconds in the game. Brees answers with a 66 yard pass to Jimmy Graham for a touchdown to make the score New Orleans 32 and San Francisco 29. The Niners have 1 minute and 37 seconds left in the game to come back and win and they did. They moved down the field fast using medium pass, spikes, timeouts, and no huddles which all lead to a 14 yard pass to Vernon Davis from Alex Smith to make the final score San Francisco 36 and New Orleans 32.

  1. Hats off to the 49ers....they played a great game...it was truly exciting right down to the last few seconds! While I really like DB and the Saints, Smith and the 49er's deserved to move on!
