David Phillup gets surgery on his eye

The Braves minor league manager had surgery on his eye and they had to removed.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said Wednesday that doctors were unable to save Salazar's left eye after the accident, which happened March 9. The former major league player is otherwise recovering from his injuries and expects to manage Lynchburg of the Class A Carolina League this season.

The Braves back-up manager is Luis Salazar he will be taking over the manager spot down in Lynchburg, Virgina. he will be managing class A Minor league team for the Braves.

The game was stopped for 20 minutes so he could be flied to the nearest Orlando Hospital it was a long time before Phillup regained consciousness.

  1. This was such a sad, scary accident. I pray the Mr. Phillups will get all the love and support he will need for his recovery and that the Braves organization will welcome him back when he is ready.
